What data is stored locally
- Generated email addresses and their metadata
- Cached email summaries (sender, subject, preview, timestamps)
- User settings (image blocking preference, plain text preference)
- Authentication tokens (if signed in)
- Analytics browser ID and device ID
All data above is stored in your browser's local extension storage and Chrome sync storage.
What data is sent to our servers
Email operations (required)
- Requests to create, delete, and fetch temporary email addresses
- Requests to fetch and read emails
- Requests to poll for new emails
Authentication (optional)
- If you sign in, your session token is exchanged for an access token via our API
- Your user ID is associated with your email addresses for cross-device sync
Analytics (automatic)
- Anonymous usage events (popup opened, address generated, email read, etc.)
- Browser type and version
- Extension version
- Events are batched and sent periodically
What data we do NOT collect
- We do not read or analyze the content of emails you receive
- We do not sell or share your data with third parties
- We do not inject ads or tracking pixels
- We do not collect your browsing history
Data retention
- Temporary email addresses expire based on server-configured TTL
- Emails are deleted when their associated address expires or is manually deleted
- Analytics events are retained for product improvement purposes
- You can delete your data at any time by removing addresses in the extension
Network requests
The extension communicates exclusively with:
api.friedapps.com— for all email and address operationsfriedapps.com— for authentication cookie detection
No other external network requests are made by the extension code. Email HTML content is rendered locally in a sandboxed iframe.
