Privacy Policy — Todo List

Summary

Todo List stores your tasks locally on your device by default. If you sign in with a Fried Apps account, your tasks are also synced to our server. The extension collects anonymous usage analytics to help us improve the product.

Data We Store Locally

The following data is stored on your device via chrome.storage.local:

  • Task lists and todos — list names, task text, URLs, completion status, and timestamps
  • Preferences — selected list, show/hide completed tasks toggle
  • Analytics queue — anonymous usage events queued for batch delivery (automatically cleared after successful send)

The following data is stored via chrome.storage.sync:

  • Device identifier — a randomly generated UUID used to deduplicate analytics events across sessions. This ID contains no personal information.

Cloud Sync (Optional)

If you sign in with a Fried Apps account:

  • Your task lists and todos are synced to the Fried Apps API (friedapps.com) so you can access them across devices
  • Sync data is tied to your account and is not shared with third parties
  • You can stop syncing at any time by signing out

If you do not sign in, no task data ever leaves your device.

Analytics

The extension collects anonymous usage events to understand how features are used. Each event includes:

  • Event type — e.g. popup_opened, todo_created, list_deleted
  • Browser metadata — user agent, platform, language, screen size, timezone
  • Extension version
  • Randomly generated browser and device IDs (not linked to your identity)
  • User ID — included only if you are signed in, to associate events with your account

Analytics events are sent in batches to the Fried Apps API over HTTPS. We do not use any third-party analytics services.

What We Do NOT Collect

  • We do not collect the content of your tasks or list names via analytics
  • We do not collect browsing history or page content
  • We do not collect passwords, financial data, or health information
  • We do not sell or share analytics data with third parties

Network Requests

The extension makes network requests only to friedapps.com for:

  1. Cloud sync — sending and retrieving task data (only when signed in)
  2. Authentication — verifying and refreshing access tokens (only when signed in)
  3. Analytics — delivering anonymous usage events in batches

All network requests are made over HTTPS.

Data Retention

  • Local data is retained until you delete it or uninstall the extension
  • Synced task data is retained on our server as long as your account exists
  • Analytics events are retained for product improvement purposes

Data Deletion

  • Local data: Uninstall the extension to remove all locally stored data
  • Synced data: Sign out and contact us to request deletion of your server-side data
  • Account deletion: Contact us to delete your Fried Apps account and all associated data
